Beside Noel was who she assumed was Lily, or rather Lilim. The woman was busty and covered in very little. Her tight leather skirt was more like a belt than anything and the only thing that covered her breasts were the tiniest of bras. Her hair was long, dark and wavy; it cascaded over her shoulders, her seductive eyes roaming the crowd lewdly. Small black wings flexed in excitement.
“I can’t believe you seduced me.” Ford said, out of breath. Athen just gave a lazy smile from her position beside Ford. She was laying flat on her stomach. “I think we need to get you out of here. Hell is corrupting you. I think I miss when you were naïve, shy and innocent.” Athen raised her right eyebrow at the man as if asking if he was serious. “Okay, not that much, but hell be blessed if I am ever able to say no to you again. You are a dangerous force Athen.” The girl could only laugh, far too exhausted from their previous activities for much else.
Joey’s boisterous laugh filled the room.
“Mercy Athen Mercy!” Akefia couldn’t deny that the girl had talent. He smirked as he watched Joey and Mark being tortured by the angel. Although he would never admit it to anyone, Athen had wormed her way into his tiny demon heart just like she had with everyone else’s.
The fanged prince looked at the angel in front of him, bright purple eyes stared back. He wondered if all angels, this being the first he’s ever seen, were that attractive. The one in front of him had long whitish blond hair to her mid back, which was nestled between large sprawling mostly grey wings. Her outfit was a body suit in nature a strip of black materiel trailing down her left leg while the right on bared creamy unclothed skin. The top of the body suit was low cut and definitely not angelic in purpose, a walking sin.
The grey eyes blinked. They were eyes Athen was far too familiar with. She was lost for words as the demon glared at her.
Athen’s hand swept along the table searching for the source of the annoying ringing. She decided it was far too early for anyone to call her. It was far too early for Ford to even bug her. Athen’s face turned hot, blushing at the name of her housemate, now roommate and lover. She thought about last night on the couch and her face got even hotter. Seizing the annoying device Athen stood from her bed. Looking at the message she read out loud to herself.
“Athen, the angel…” She started, her throat was sore and dry, she cleared it with a cough. Mumbling she took a step, with a sway she landed back on the bed. She blamed it on the initial fatigue of waking up and continued reading. “Found; possible gate way. Location.” The message linked to a picture. Athen smiled brightly, and cheered. Finally a clue, and some help!
“Mmm, cake.” Athen mumbled in her semi-conscious state. “Ow, head.” Now awake, she flung her arm over her eyes to block out the sunlight. The bright light only intensified the pounding of her head
“Morning,” Ford said. He sat on her bed holding a plate. Ford placed the food, in this case a slice of cake accompanied with a candle, on the side table by Athen’s bed. “Afternoon rather,” He corrected himself. It was far into the afternoon, close to three o’clock. He told himself he’d let Athen sleep until then so she could sleep off the hangover he knew she would be feeling. Though without lying to himself he knew he was far too embarrassed to approach her before then.
“Velcome!” Athen smiled brightly waiting for the woman to take notice of her. “Athen, dear! I’m so glad to see you again.” The Greek woman gave Athen a huge hug. The small woman’s head of graying hair tickled the underside of Athen’s chin.
“It’s good to see you too, Yaya.” Athen greeted the woman with a large smile and returned the hug. “A seat for two please.” The last time Athen had seen Yaya, was when the girl had quit on Ford’s request. The older woman was understanding about the situation. Commenting on how with Athen’s beauty it was best to keep her locked up away from predators. Athen had just laughed at the comment.
“Do you?” Athen opened her eyes slowly taking in the sincerity in Ford’s voice.
“Yes…” She whispered.
There she was again, in the same dungeon, the dream from nights before continuing seamlessly as if she had never woken. Shuddering in her corner she whimpered as her body touched the burning wall. No matter how many times over the nights she tried not to she always drew the attention of the demon man from the alley.
He approached as usual hard rocky body noisily making its way closer. The monster screamed as an invisible force attacked. The candles in the room now brighter as the demon shifted back into its human shape. Now lying motionless on the floor Athen stared at the unconscious man.
“I’ll protect you forever.” Her savior stepped slightly into the light. The only evidence of their identity was the piercing grey eyes glowing with raw emotion. She ran towards him arms outstretched. Warm arms encircled her and a warmer voice whispered in her ear. “Do you?”
“Yes.”
Athen rolled over in her bed a small smile appearing on her face. Her nightmare shifted into a peaceful dream. Her dream self comforted in Ford’s warm embrace.
She had no idea what to do, she was out of money. Now, she wasn’t completely out of money; but she was getting low. Her rent was paid for, for at least another six months she made sure of that earlier. Four months had already passed and the mission was taking a lot longer than anyone had planned for. Athen needed to make sure she had living arrangements for that time. She wasn’t sure if she would be given more funds. As a result she was now up the river without a paddle so to speak. That’s why she was currently hunched over on her bed searching through the newspaper for a job.
Even as the sun rose Athen stayed in bed, engulfed in the comfort of the warm blankets. She was in no rush today. If she waited for Ford to show her the library she would be saving herself loads of time in the long run, so she didn’t think of today as slacking off. She thought of it as an investment, one that benefited everyone. With that peace of mind, Athen rolled over to a more comfortable position and was lulled into her favorite past time. Sleep.
